Helping and Healing

Harm Reduction

As a physician, much of my career has been dedicated to harm reduction—helping people reduce or eliminate behaviors and substances that cause harm in their lives. Over the past decade, I’ve supported individuals in quitting alcohol, smoking, opioids, and other prescription medications with harmful and often deadly side effects by offering safer, natural alternatives. I’ve found that natural medicine can also reduce harm caused by stress, anxiety, PTSD, grief, chronic illness, and the physical and emotional toll of death and dying.

My approach focuses on building a genuine, individualized harm reduction relationship with each person, and those relationships have become the foundation of my work. I’ve witnessed people overcome 13 years of disability from PTSD to return to work, reclaim their lives from addiction, find healing from grief, and ease their anxiety around loss and mortality. Through our harm reduction services, clients co-create personalized plans for meaningful life changes. As part of the service, we provide microdose capsules, ongoing support, and unrestricted phone access to me for guidance. This is a professional, structured offering with a clear goal: to help people reduce harm and live more balanced, fulfilled lives.

Medicinal Cannabis in CO

Colorado’s medical marijuana law, established by Amendment 20 in 2000, permits patients with qualifying debilitating medical conditions to use marijuana for therapeutic purposes. Eligible patients must obtain a recommendation from a licensed physician and register with the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment to receive a Medical Marijuana Registry identification card. Registered patients are allowed to possess up to two ounces of usable marijuana and cultivate up to six plants, with no more than three being mature and flowering at any given time.

In 2010, the state enacted the Colorado Medical Marijuana Code (C.R.S. 12-43.3-101 et seq.), which established a regulatory framework for medical marijuana businesses, requiring dual licensing at both state and local levels. Physicians recommending medical marijuana must maintain a bona fide doctor-patient relationship and are prohibited from receiving compensation from marijuana businesses. Primary caregivers, designated by patients, may assist with the acquisition and administration of medical marijuana but must comply with specific legal requirements. While medical marijuana use is legal under state law, it remains illegal under federal law, and patients are advised to stay informed about evolving regulations to ensure compliance. ļæ¼ ļæ¼ ļæ¼
